Meet Professor Huckleberry

About Huck

Professor Huckleberry is a 9-year-old rescue Yellow Lab -Anatolian Shepherd mix living in northern Montana. Weighing in around 100 pounds, Huck is a gentle, calm giant who has been instrumental for my service dog needs.

He thrives in Montana's long winters, enjoys laying in the shade by the water in the summers, getting pets from little kids (ask permission first!), and lots and lots of bacon.

We explore national and state parks and enjoy hiking, camping, and exploring America.

His Name

As I decided what to name my newfound companion, the name 'Buck' was suggested. I offered back with 'Huck,' short for 'huckleberry,' Montana's state fruit.

I asked Huck, 'What do you think of that, boy? Are you my Mr. Huckleberry?" He wagged his tail.

I playfully asked, "Are you a good boy? Who's a good boy?"

And he side-eyed me the way a college professor would when a student asks a dumb question.

And that sort of pretentious behavior and smart response is exactly why Huck earned the title of 'Professor.'
